If you’re in the mood for a story that blends sin and salvation, Her Saint might just be your next guilty pleasure and Saint de Haas your next book boyfriend. This steamy romance follows the intense and forbidden connection between a fiery, independent woman and the one man she knows she should avoid–her student, or rather, her stalker, or wait… he’s both.  Briar is a college professor who finds herself being stalked by one of her students, Saint de Haas. Despite her attempts to evade him, Saint is relentless, convinced that she is his muse and determined to make her his, no matter the cost. While Briar tries to prove his obsession is dangerous— especially after a date of hers ends up dead—Saint believes he’s saving her from the world’s evils. It’s a twisted, dark obsession where boundaries blur between love and madness.  Book one of this duet ends with a “not-so-steep” cliffhanger, where Saint whisks Briar away to his secluded, gothic mansion for winter break between semesters and that’s where the next book picks up.

In His Sinner, Book Two of this Duet, Briar is forced into isolation at Saint’s gothic manor, where his obsession grows deeper and their enthusiasm for one another gets spicier. While Saint claims to have taken Briar away on a winter writing retreat, it’s clear he has no intention of letting her go, and Briar knows better—Saint plans to keep her forever, convinced she’s his soulmate.  Yet, despite his fixation, Saint’s love for Briar compels him to allow her to leave, hoping she’ll return to him by choice to gain her love and trust. Back at school, Briar tries to regain control of her life, only to discover that Saint isn’t her only stalker, danger still lurks in the shadows, and she doesn’t know who to trust. One thing is clear though, their twisted connection is far from over.

Dark Romance, Masks, and Safe Words

Ever wondered what it’s like to have a masked stalker romance, but still too intimidated to read the Legacy of Gods Series? This is going to be your life vest before jumping into the deep.  If masked stalker romances are your jam, then this duet is going to hit all the right notes. Her Saint and His Sinner are, at their core, a deep dive into obsession, kink, and that all-important line between desire and danger. Right off the bat, you know what you’re in for when Saint, our masked stalker, is lurking outside Briar’s window, fulfilling her deepest fantasies to be stalked by a masked man! How thoughtful. Saint isn’t just creeping outside windows for no reason. I know, it’s a little wild, but don’t we love that in dark romance? Briar quickly realizes she’s into it, too, and suddenly, the whole “stalker” thing feels more like an intense unconventional love story. And he’s a considerate stalker because he wants Briar to have a safe word. Honestly, in dark romance, that’s a huge win, and if you’re just starting to get your feet wet in this genre, this is a safe place to start.

Now, I know you’re wondering—how dark is this really? Well, while Saint has his moments of danger , the whole vibe is more of a kinky dance between Briar’s hidden desires and Saint’s relentless obsession. The mask? Totally her kink. The lurking? He’s just there to protect her from the world, or at least that’s how he sees it. And sure, Saint may kill a guy who dated Briar once, but hey, in the world of grand gestures, it doesn’t get much bigger than that. Right?  Who needs jewelry?

Plot-wise, Her Saint is mostly setting the scene—introducing Saint, Briar, and their mutual fixation—while the real meat of the story unfolds in His Sinner. If you’re planning to read this duet, then we recommend reading both books back-to-back because splitting them up feels like an unnecessary delay. The first book leaves you hanging, and not in a suspenseful way. It’s more of a “Where’s the rest of the plot?” kind of cliffhanger.

Despite that, His Sinner picks up the pace, and we get some truly juicy twists, a deeper dive into Saint’s obsession, and a very steamy forced proximity setup in his Gothic mansion. Briar, meanwhile, tries to regain control of her life, but as the danger intensifies, she realizes Saint may not be the only one watching her. Their chemistry works because they fulfill each other’s darkest fantasies, and as far as dark book boyfriends go, Saint is up there. He’s obsessive, dangerous, but ultimately wants to protect Briar and push her to follow her dreams. Oh, did we mention he’s rich?  Money’s no issue, of course!

At the end of the day, if you’re into dark romance but still want to feel safe in the hands of the author, this duet is a solid bet and Saint de Haas is your man. The themes may be dangerous, but the consent is always clear. Saint will make the perfect stalker book boyfriend because he cares about your dreams, needs, and he wants to fulfill your darkest desires too. Bonus points for the fact that he encourages Briar’s writing career and buys her all her books off her wishlist!

Is This For You?

If you’re looking to dip your toes into dark romance but need to start with something consensual, well-handled spicy themes, then this duet could be the right fit. It’s a rollercoaster of obsession, kink, and wild plot twists—just don’t expect to be satisfied with the first book alone. This one’s all about the long game!

As always, here are your fave spicy chapters:

Her Saint: 16, 21, 24, 28, 29,32

His Sinner: 2, 3-4, 7, 9, 13, 14, 16
